Softball Recap: Mohave Accelerated Drops Season-High Score on North Valley Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mohave Accelerated). They were the clear victors by a 27-0 margin over the North Valley Christian Academy Lions on Friday. Considering the Patriots have won 19 matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Megan Jones and Alyssa Laing were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Jones didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Laing tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Jones has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Jones got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one triple, while Laing got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. With that strong performance, Jones is now averaging an impressive 1 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Tanner Banks was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, six RBI, and four runs. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Lamb, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, six RBI, and one triple.

Mohave Accelerated kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 21 consecutive contests.

Mohave Accelerated pushed their record up to 23-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for North Valley Christian Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Coming up, Mohave Accelerated will be playing at home against Heritage Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Heroes have averaged an impressive 12.2 runs per game this season. North Valley Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
