Basketball Recap: Kearstynn Davis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hillsboro over Gillespie

Hillsboro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 60-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gillespie Miners. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hiltoppers of the 59-45 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Hillsboro's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kearstynn Davis, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Davis is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last four games she's played. Tatum Christian was another key player, going 5 for 11 on her way to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Hillsboro's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-9. As for Gillespie, their record now sits at 18-8.

Hillsboro has already played their next contest, a 60-24 win against Lincolnwood on the 3rd. As for Gillespie, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-31 victory against Edinburg/South Fork on the 3rd.
