Baseball Recap: Steele Canyon Has No Trouble Against Mount Miguel

Steele Canyon got themselves on the board against Mount Miguel on Friday, but Mount Miguel never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 23-0 margin over the Matadors. Give the Cougars' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Hunter Haase looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tommy Rimoldi was incredible, going 5-for-6 with six RBI, four runs, and two doubles. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Caha, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, two RBI, and one double.

Steele Canyon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .660. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Steele Canyon's record now sits at 9-13. As for Mount Miguel, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.

Mount Miguel didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-5 loss against Crawford on the 3rd. Hopefully Steele Canyon paid attention to the Matadors' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Matadors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
