Football Recap: Lewisburg Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Lewisburg and Loyalsock Township, and Loyalsock Township kept the tradition alive. The Green Dragons fell 14-7 to the Lancers on Friday. The matchup marked the Green Dragons' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Loyalsock Township's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Danny Dowell led the charge by rushing for 108 yards on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 85 yards and a pair of TDs. Dowell's passing game has become a key predictor of the Lancers' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Jalil Coates also helped out as he racked up 135 rushing yards.

Lewisburg's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Loyalsock Township, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Lewisburg will venture away from home to square off against Midd-West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Green Dragons are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Loyalsock Township, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Warrior Run at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers' defense better be ready for this one: the Defenders have averaged an impressive 34.2 points per game this season.
