Melrose came tearing into Thursday's matchup with seven straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Lake Arthur Panthers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 on October 7th.

The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-5, 25-16.

Among those leading the charge was Shylynn Downey, who had 11 digs and three aces. Those three aces gave her a new career-high.

Downey wasn't the only good servers: Melrose was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in six consecutive matches.

Melrose's win bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Lake Arthur, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Melrose will face off against rival Elida at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lake Arthur is set to take on their familiar foe Dora at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
