Baseball Recap: Liberty's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Liberty dropped their record down to 16-7 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home. They fell 5-2 to the Heritage Patriots. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Lions couldn't push the score so high this time.

Jake Farr was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Liberty saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sean Kelly, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Heritage, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

On Heritage's side, Jace Bernard tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Bernard has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jason Stevens, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Aidan Rangel was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

While Liberty had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
