Basketball Recap: Greene County Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Greene County had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a hard 56-40 fall against the Jasper County Hurricanes. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Jasper County was led to victory by Toni Gantt and Selena Harvey. Gantt posted 21 points and three steals, while Harvey dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. What's more, Harvey posted two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Desii Appling, who put up a point in addition to 11 boards and seven steals.

Greene County and Jasper County will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Tigers see the court they'll take on Christian Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on December 2. As for Jasper County, their break will end when they face Alcovy at 6:00 p.m. on December 5.
