Baseball Game Preview: Rickards Raiders vs. Aucilla Christian Warriors

The Rickards Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Aucilla Christian Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rickards is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Rickards came up short against Rutherford on Friday, falling 13-5.

Jarquez Jackson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Rickards is 2-1 when Jackson posts two or more runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Chris Turner also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Aucilla Christian never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on Riverside Christian with a sharp 15-0 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by nine runs or more this season.

Aucilla Christian also got a great performance from Josh Agner as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Agner a new career-high.

At the plate, Caleb Walsh was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Shaw Lundy, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Aucilla Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Rickards' loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Aucilla Christian, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rickards has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Aucilla Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Rickards skirted past Aucilla Christian 6-5 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rickards since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
