McCallie has gone a perfect 10-0 against Chattanooga Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Blue Tornado will square off against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. McCallie is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
While McCallie's victory against McMinn County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Tornado had just enough and edged out the Cherokees 6-5.
David Stonecipher looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chandler Jones, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kelby Barnett, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
McCallie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chattanooga Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Notre Dame 7-6 on Friday.
Brooks Wykoff was incredible, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Keegan Nieckula was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Chattanooga Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for McCallie, they pushed their record up to 8-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
McCallie was able to grind out a solid win over Chattanooga Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 3-0. Will the Blue Tornado repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
