Preview: Murrieta Valley Nighthawks vs. Rancho Dominguez Lobos

The Murrieta Valley Nighthawks will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Rancho Dominguez Lobos at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Murrieta Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday.

Murrieta Valley's three-game losing streak came to an end. They came out on top against Linfield Christian by a score of 63-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Shaun Stoll Jr. and Brady Jones were among the main playmakers for Murrieta Valley as the former scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals and the latter scored 23 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Steffen, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Rancho Dominguez ended up a good deal behind Gardena last Friday and lost 60-41. While losing is never fun, Rancho Dominguez can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 838th, while Gardena is ranked 151st).

Murrieta Valley's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-6. As for Rancho Dominguez, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
