Basketball Recap: Auburn Riverside Comes Up Short

Auburn Riverside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-58 heartbreaker at the hands of the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles.

Despite the defeat, Auburn Riverside saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Leroy Kinnay dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kinnay has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Erik Harris, who posted six points.

Even though they lost, Auburn Riverside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Auburn Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Graham-Kapowsin, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.

Auburn Riverside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-42 defeat against Kentridge on the 28th. As for Graham-Kapowsin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-42 loss against Emerald Ridge on the 28th.
