Soccer Game Preview: Ceres vs. Johansen

The Ceres Bulldogs will take on the Johansen Vikings at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Ceres will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Livingston, who they had gone 0-7-1 against in their eight prior meetings. Ceres had just enough and edged Livingston out 2-1. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Bulldogs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 567th, while Wolves are ranked 264th).

Meanwhile, Johansen kept a clean sheet against Beyer on Tuesday. They skirted past the Patriots 1-0.

Ceres now has a winning record of 7-6-4. As for Johansen, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4-2 and their overall record up to 8-7-2.

Ceres beat Johansen by a goal when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 2-1. Will Ceres repeat their success, or does Johansen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
