Baseball Recap: Richwood Wins Going Away Against Greater Beckley Christian

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mount View, Richwood was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders 12-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lumberjacks also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2022.

Parker Giles was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Giles was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cameron Jenkins, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Richwood's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-6 when he doesn't). Kaden Lane was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Richwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greater Beckley Christian only managed seven hits.

The victory got Richwood back to even at 6-6. As for Greater Beckley Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Looking ahead, Richwood will head out on the road to square off against Midland Trail at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Greater Beckley Christian, they have already played their next match, a 15-8 win against Elk Valley Christian on the 28th.
