Baseball Recap: Maiden Beats Bandys for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Maiden came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bandys Trojans, sneaking past 4-2. This was a revenge game for the Blue Devils: when they faced off against the Trojans back in March, they had to take a 8-3 defeat.

Collin Chappel made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 14 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. He has become a key player for Maiden: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 6-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brycen James, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Maiden's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Blake Lackey, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Maiden's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Bandys, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
