Softball Recap: Edgar Has No Trouble Against Pittsville

There's no place like home for Edgar, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Pittsville Panthers a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. The game marked the Wildcats' most dominant victory of the season.

Vanessa Czech was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. Czech was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Alyson Kolano was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grasci Yonker, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

Edgar always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Edgar moved to 7-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Pittsville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Edgar has already played their next match, an 8-2 victory against Athens on the 25th. As for Pittsville, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Wild Rose at 4:30 p.m.
