Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Woodcreek's Ninth in Last 12 Outings

It's playoff time, and Woodcreek had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Tokay Tigers with a sharp 7-1 win on Wednesday.

Bryson Ruiz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on LT Lindsay, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Trace Murchison, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Woodcreek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tokay only posted a batting average of .125.

Woodcreek is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Tokay, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-13.

Looking ahead, Woodcreek will face off against Del Oro at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Timberwolves 3.7, the Golden Eagles 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Tokay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
