After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Upper Arlington, Westland was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Whetstone Braves 8-7. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Payton Justice spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven runs (all of which were unearned) on ten hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Brooklyn Barnett and Sophie Harris did most of the damage at the plate: Barnett went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Harris went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Barnett has posted over her last nine contests. Another player making a difference was Nahomy Valdes, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Westland's victory bumped their record up to 7-19. As for Whetstone, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

As for Whetstone, they will venture away from home to take on Westerville South at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
