Baseball Recap: Silver Comes Up Short

Silver extended their losing streak to eight on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-13 in the process. They came up short against the Deming Wildcats, falling 13-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Fighting Colts of the 6-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Deming, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-6. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

For Deming's part, Daniel Mosier made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Mosier a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Daniel Porras was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples and five RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Estevan Mariscal was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Silver will face off against rival Santa Teresa at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Deming is set to take on their familiar foe Chaparral at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
