Basketball Recap: St. Ignatius Comes Up Short

St. Ignatius lost against Thompson Falls back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The St. Ignatius Bulldogs were outmatched by the Thompson Falls Blue Hawks and fell 71-42. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Blue Hawks are ranked 30th).

When it comes to explaining why St. Ignatius lost, don't look at Lex LaFrombois. Despite the final result, he posted 27 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. That was a full 64.3% of St. Ignatius' points, marking the 11th time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Harlon Leishman, who earned four points and seven boards.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Ignatius and nudges their season record down to 3-10. As for Thompson Falls, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3.

St. Ignatius wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-52 defeat against Anaconda on the 31st. Thompson Falls has also already played their next game (against Plains), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
