Basketball Game Preview: Kenwood Broncos vs. Nazareth Academy Roadrunners

The Kenwood Broncos will take on the Nazareth Academy Roadrunners at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Kenwood is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They really took it to Oak Lawn for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-31 win. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Spartans are ranked 148th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kenwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than London Walker George, who posted 11 points and five steals. Walker George is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 57% in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Diann Jackson, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 14 points and eight rebounds.

Kenwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Nazareth Academy had already won 22 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points) and they went ahead and made it 23 on Thursday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 55-20 victory over the Red Devils. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Roadrunners had established a 22 point advantage.

Kenwood pushed their record up to 30-3 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 36.1 points. As for Nazareth Academy, their record is now 31-2.

Kenwood came up short against Nazareth Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 50-37. Can Kenwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
