Mississinewa is 6-1 against Maconaquah since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Indians will look to defend their home field against the Braves at 5:30 p.m. Mississinewa is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Mississinewa barely beat Frankton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Indians blew past the Eagles 9-3 on Thursday. The Indians have beaten the Eagles the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.
Kenny Ayala spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bryson Vasquez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Kyler Thompson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Maconaquah, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over North Miami on Friday.
Bennett Isenburg made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Maconaquah is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9 otherwise. Isenburg was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Chase Washburn was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kobe Bowman, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Mississinewa's victory bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Maconaquah, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mississinewa has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Maconaquah struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mississinewa came out on top in a nail-biter against Maconaquah in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
