Baseball Recap: Lapoynor Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

LaPoynor had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Cross Roads Bobcats. The Flyers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bobcats, too.

Jesse Budgell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Cobi Diepenbruck, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

LaPoynor hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

LaPoynor's record now sits at 13-11. As for Cross Roads, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-8.

LaPoynor will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bobcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
