Baseball Recap: South San Francisco Finds Home Field Redemption Against Washington

There's no place like home for South San Francisco, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Washington Eagles on Saturday. Considering the Warriors have won three matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Gabriel Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vince Bernal, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Emilio Oseguera also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

The victory got South San Francisco back to even at 3-3. As for Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, South San Francisco will square off against Priory at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Priory's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so South San Francisco's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Washington, they will welcome Lowell at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
