Football Recap: Canton Tigers vs. Warren Central Vikings
After flying high against Greenville last Friday, Canton came back down to earth. The Tigers came up short against the Warren Central Vikings on Thursday, falling 34-14. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Vikings are ranked 14th).
Jermerion Sheilds and Jaden Gee certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Sheilds rushed for 87 yards and one score, while Gee rushed for 47 yards and one TD.
Leading Warren Central to victory were Nash Morgan and Xavier Jackson. Morgan rushed for 22 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Jackson gained 96 total yards and a touchdown.
Canton has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Warren Central, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
