Softball Recap: Oley Valley Starts Season with Victory at Home

Oley Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Muhlenberg Muhls. For the Lynx, this counts as revenge for the 17-4 victory the Muhls walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Cheyenne Walsh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Oley Valley let Ava Walters and Emma Ott run wild. Walters scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Ott scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Taylor Schlegel, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

When Oley Valley and Muhlenberg next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Oley Valley will try to stop York Suburban's three-game winning streak when they meet at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Similarly, Muhlenberg will challenge Red Lion and their three-game winning streak at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
