Game recap: Muir High School Football Team wins against Burbank

PASADENA, Calif. - Muir (Pasadena, Calif.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 10 points, drop to seven before the final whistle blew on a 24-17 victory over Burbank (Calif.).

After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Michael Burns in the first quarter, the Mustangs led 17-7 at the half.

Muir saw its 10-point halftime lead fall to three entering the fourth.

The loss snapped the Bulldogs' 4-game winning streak.



Burbank's Ryan Meredith played well. The sophomore quarterback threw one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to three on the year.

Burns stood out for MHS in the win. He ran for one touchdown.

Coming into the game the Pasadena school had allowed 21.6 points per game this year. The Mustangs held firm on the defensive front, and kept BHS well below the 31.6 points it had been averaging per game.

The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which the Bulldogs took, 70-34.

The loss comes after Burbank defeated Crescenta Valley 38-21 last week.

Muir (5-3) will play a Pacific game against Arcadia next week, while Burbank (5-3) will take on Glendale also in a Pacific game.
