West Stanly waltzed into their game on Thursday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Union Pines Vikings. The result was nothing new for the Colts, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Madi Whitley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Laney Tucker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jenna Brock, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and one double.

West Stanly kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matches.

West Stanly pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Union Pines, with the defeat, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-6.

Coming up, West Stanly will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Anson at 6:00 p.m. As for Union Pines, they will head out to take on Scotland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Scots will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight.
