Football Recap: East Palestine Skates Past Windham with Ease

After losing to Windham the last time they met, East Palestine decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Bulldogs breezed past the Bombers to the tune of 57-14 on Friday. With the Bulldogs ahead 42-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.

East Palestine's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Clark Rutledge led the charge by rushing for 106 yards and three scores on only eight carries, while also throwing for 51 yards and one TD. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Rutledge a new career-high. Zach Schnelle was in the mix too, providing East Palestine with one touchdown.

East Palestine's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Jordan Johnson refused to say out of the backfield, picking up a sack all by himself. East Palestine received some extra help from Schnelle, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

East Palestine has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 48.5 points this season. As for Windham, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Palestine will square off against Bridgeport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Windham, they will challenge Jackson-Milton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
