Basketball Recap: Lake Catholic Takes a Loss

Lake Catholic lost against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lake Catholic Cougars took a 63-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 327th, while the Lions are ranked 115th).

When it comes to explaining why Lake Catholic lost, don't look at Ace Peterlin. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 23 on his way to 24 points. Peterlin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Cross Nimmo was another key player, putting up eight points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Lake Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

Lake Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 65-56 victory against John Marshall on the 18th. As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, they will face off against Holy Name at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 200 points over their last three games.
