Basketball Recap: Roma Comes Up Short

Roma lost against Rio Grande City back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The match between the Roma Gladiators and the Rio Grande City Rattlers didn't end well, with the Roma Gladiators falling 41-24. The Gladiators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Roma lost, don't look at Ayssa Rios. Despite the final result, she posted six points along with six rebounds and four steals. Virgina Kernz was another key player, putting up two points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Roma's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Rio Grande City, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.

Roma will take on Mission Veterans Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rio Grande City, they will square off against Cigarroa at 6:00 p.m. on January 10th.
