Basketball Recap: Wagner Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wagner can now relate to. The contest between the Wagner Red Raiders and the McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars didn't end well, with the Wagner Red Raiders falling 55-38. The Red Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fighting Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2016.

Wagner has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. The win made it two in a row for McCook Central/Montrose and bumps their season record up to 13-10.

Wagner does not have any more games scheduled as of now. McCook Central/Montrose will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Chester at 7:00 p.m. on December 18th. McCook Central/Montrose will be up against Chester's rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
