Basketball Recap: City Arts and Leadership Academy Takes a Loss

City Arts and Leadership Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost to the Sterne Dolphins on the road by a 50-34 margin. The Hawks were probably out for revenge after losing 53-43 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Leading Sterne to victory were Andrew Jones and Rico Duenas. Jones dropped a double-double on 18 points and 21 boards, while Duenas dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. Jones is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Smith Trimble, who posted three points along with five boards and five steals.

City Arts and Leadership Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Sterne, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Sterne beat City Arts and Leadership Academy by a score of 53-45 on Tuesday.
