Soccer Game Preview: Smoky Hill vs. Horizon

The Smoky Hill Buffaloes will face off against the Horizon Hawks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Smoky Hill is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Mountain Range on Thursday. Smoky Hill fell just short of Mountain Range by a score of 2-1. Deanna Childers was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on her (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Smoky Hill's goal came courtesy of Phoebe Mckean, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Horizon was forced to settle for a draw. Neither they nor Poudre could gain the upper hand on Thursday so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Horizon's draw gives them a new season record of 1-1-1. As for Smoky Hill, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Smoky Hill couldn't quite get it done against Horizon when the teams last played back in March of 2018 as they fell 4-2. Can Smoky Hill avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
