Game recap

Mountain View (Mesa, Ariz.) extended its winning streak to six games with a 28-14 victory over Highland (Gilbert, Ariz.) on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by John Clark to Robbie Millward in the first quarter, the Toros led 21-6 at the half.

Clark played well for Mountain View in the victory. The junior quarterback threw three touchdowns. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.

Blake Young played well for the Hawks. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to four on the year.

Coming into the game MV had allowed 21.9 points per game this year. The Mesa school held firm on the defensive front, and kept Highland well below the 26.0 points it had been averaging per game.

The victory will ease some of the sting of the Toros' close 23-21 loss to HHS last season.

The defeat comes as a step back for Highland, which notched a 34-32 victory over Desert Mountain in its previous outing. The loss snapped the Gilbert school's 2-game winning streak.

Mountain View (6-2) goes up against Mountain Pointe in a I Section III game matchup next week, while Highland (5-3) locks horns with Mesa in a I Section II game.
