Baseball Game Preview: Taft Wildcats vs. Wasco Tigers

For the second straight game, Taft will face off against Wasco. The Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Taft took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Wasco get on the board and left with a 7-0 win.

Cash Clark was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Dylan Clark was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Taft's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't).

Taft hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive games.

Taft's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Wasco, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-5.
