Softball Recap: Fort Calhoun Pioneers vs. Gothenburg Swedes

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Calhoun). Everything went their way against the Gothenburg Swedes on Monday as the Fort Calhoun Pioneers made off with a 15-1 victory. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Addison Benoit, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Taylor, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Fort Calhoun lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gothenburg didn't launched any.

The win was the tenth in a row for Fort Calhoun, bringing their record for this year to 22-5. As for Gothenburg, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.

Fort Calhoun has already played their next match, a 10-2 victory against Central City on the 7th. Gothenburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
