Football Game Preview: Queensbury Spartans vs. Columbia Blue Devils

Queensbury has gone a perfect 3-0 against Columbia recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. Queensbury's defense has only allowed 13.1 points per game this season, so Columbia's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Columbia will be up against a hot Queensbury squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Spartans came out on top against Mohonasen by a score of 25-15 two weeks ago. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Warriors are ranked 407th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hudson Montgomery was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 193 yards and one touchdown.

Montgomery was just one part of a punishing run game: Queensbury was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 213 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Queensbury didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Davian Williams and Tyler Thetford, who each picked up one interception apiece.

Meanwhile, Columbia took a blow against Niskayuna on Friday, falling 54-6. The defeat continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Silver Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.

Columbia's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Queensbury, their record is now 5-2.

Queensbury beat Columbia 28-21 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
