Soccer Game Preview: Wheatmore vs. Bishop McGuinness

The Wheatmore Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Bishop McGuinness Villains at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Wheatmore will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Thursday, then bounced right back against Southwestern Randolph on Tuesday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Cougars. The victory continues a trend for Wheatmore in their matchups with Southwestern Randolph: they've now won eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Bishop McGuinness kept a clean sheet against Piedmont Classical on Tuesday. They blew past the Bobcats 9-0. It was an even better day for Laney Heafner as she scored four goals for her team.

Bishop McGuinness is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 57 goals over those ten matches. As for Wheatmore, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.

Wheatmore might still be hurting after the 6-3 loss they got from Bishop McGuinness in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
