Baseball Game Preview: Sherwood Bowmen vs. Westview Wolverines

The Sherwood Bowmen will take on the Westview Wolverines at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sherwood will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Sherwood proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Glenbrook North. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bowmen have posted since May 2, 2024.

Sherwood got a great performance from Alex Lopez as he struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Parry, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Landon Brown, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Westview beat Waverly 4-1 on Saturday.

Westview pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Sherwood, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
