Basketball Recap: Fort Ann Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Fort Ann faced off against Hawthorne Valley on Friday. The Fort Ann Cardinals took a blow against the Hawthorne Valley Wildcats, falling 72-36. The Cardinals were down 55-31 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

When it comes to explaining why Fort Ann lost, don't look at Kadyence Cutter. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Marcus Stowhas was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Fort Ann smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive games.

It was another big night for Noah Vom Stein, who posted 37 points for Hawthorne Valley. The dominant performance gave Vom Stein a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Gamiello, who put up 17 points.

Fort Ann has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for Hawthorne Valley, they moved to 2-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Fort Ann won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Varsity Opponent at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Hawthorne Valley, they and Argyle will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
