Softball Recap: Biglerville Beats Delone Catholic for Their Third Straight Win

Biglerville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Delone Catholic Squires. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-6 on April 2nd.

Sydney McCleaf made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run.

In other batting news, Jocelyn Miller and Ava Peterson did most of the damage at the plate: Miller went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Peterson went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Leah Strawsburg was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Biglerville's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Delone Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Biglerville will challenge Fairfield at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Canners' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Delone Catholic, they will host York Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Fighting Irish have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.77 runs per game on average), something the Squires will no doubt try to take advantage of.
