Basketball Game Preview: Lyman Greyhounds vs. Crooms Academy Panthers

Lyman is on a 12-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, Crooms Academy a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Lyman Greyhounds will welcome the Crooms Academy Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Wednesday, Lyman took a blow against Lake Mary, falling 58-13. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 606th, while the Rams are ranked 88th).

Meanwhile, Crooms Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Liberty Christian on Friday and fell 31-29.

Loss or not, Crooms Academy got some senior leadership from Akilah Manley and Zoe Fulgencio. Manley posted 14 points, while Fulgencio scored 11 points. That was a full 37.9% of Crooms Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Crooms Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Lyman, their loss dropped their record down to 1-23.

Everything came up roses for Lyman against Crooms Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2022, as the team secured a 60-10 victory. Will Lyman repeat their success, or does Crooms Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
