Softball Game Preview: Colonial Forge Eagles vs. North Stafford Wolverines

Colonial Forge hasn't had much luck against North Stafford recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m.

Colonial Forge is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They fell 10-5 to Stafford. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly five runs.

Meanwhile, North Stafford had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top against the Black Hawks by a score of 9-4. Nine seems to be a good number for the Wolverines as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Kaylie DeChicchis made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Christian Ellis was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kayla Suber, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

North Stafford's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Colonial Forge, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
