Baseball Recap: Hebbronville Takes a Loss

Hebbronville suffered their biggest defeat since April 23, 2024 on Wednesday. They lost 17-8 to the Lyford Bulldogs. The Longhorns were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 5-0.

Ruben Rodriguez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Derek Ramirez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Hebbronville is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7-1. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Lyford, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.

Looking ahead, Hebbronville will square off against Robstown at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The last seven games Robstown has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Lyford, they will venture away from home to face off against Edinburg North at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Edinburg North has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.93 runs per game on average), something Lyford will no doubt try to take advantage of.
