Football Recap: Long Rebels vs. Ariton Purple Cats
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Long and Ariton had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Rebels lost 36-13 to the Purple Cats on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 55 points in the game before, the Rebels couldn't push the score so high this time.
Ariton was led to victory by Wells Ganey and Addison Senn. Ganey gained 112 total yards and two touchdowns, while Senn rushed for 29 yards and two touchdowns. Ganey also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making eight total tackles.
Long's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-3. As for Ariton, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Long will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Abbeville at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Ariton, they will head out to face off against Dale County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
