Basketball Recap: Cottonwood Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Ashlyn Tripp and Taylor Workman

Cottonwood saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell 61-52 to the Draper APA Eagles.

Cottonwood's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Taylor Workman, who posted 16 points, and Ashlyn Tripp, who had 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lulu Vernon, who put up six points.

Draper APA had a senior duo take command as Samantha Kartchner dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 boards and Aaliyah Baldwin went 10 of 24 on her way to 27 points along with seven assists and four steals. The game was Baldwin's 23rd in a row with at least ten points. Amin Ajak was another key player, putting up five points and eight rebounds.

Cottonwood's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Draper APA, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

Cottonwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 57-31 victory against East on the 28th. As for Draper APA, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 75-42 win against Wendover on the 28th.
