Basketball Recap: Snyder Tigers vs. Sweetwater Mustangs
The Snyder Tigers were the 53-34 winner over the Sweetwater Mustangs when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Snyder fell to the Mustangs 44-39.
Despite the loss, Snyder had strong showings from Jasmine Hernandez, who scored 11 points, and Jayci Medrano, who scored seven points along with three steals. Medrano has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.
Sweetwater was led to victory by Kaidynce Tilley and Mallory Gibson. Tilley scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Gibson dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Snyder's loss dropped their record down to 14-18. As for Sweetwater, their victory bumped their record up to 17-12.
Snyder will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Matadors at 6:30 p.m. Estacado presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Tigers in Texas (the Matadors are ranked 276th, while the Tigers are ranked 660th). As for Sweetwater, they will head out on the road to face off against the Steers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Big Spring has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
