Baseball Recap: Briarcliff Takes a Loss

Briarcliff and Hastings squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Briarcliff had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Yellow Jackets by a score of 9-7. Surprisingly, this marked the Bears' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Jesse Roth was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.

Briarcliff's loss dropped their record down to 7-5-1. As for Hastings, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Briarcliff does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hastings, they will square off against Putnam Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
