Preview: Manteca vs. Rio Americano
The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Thursday Manteca (8-2) takes on Rio Americano (6-4) in the first playoff game of the year. With four consecutive blowout wins, Manteca is looking for someone to give it a good challenge; hopefully Rio Americano will step up.
Manteca went up against East Union last week. Manteca's defense put the team in a good position heading into the break, holding East Union to a measly three points. That gave them a 17 - 3 advantage at the half. The offense wasn't without success either, scoring 29 points in the second half. At the end of the day, Manteca walked away with a breezy 46 - 17 win.
As for Rio Americano, the match between Rio Americano and Casa Roble was close at the half, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the final score. Rio Americano had a lot of difficulties with Casa Roble last game and took a hard 28 - 3 hit. Rio Americano unfortunately couldn't repeat the imposing 51-point effort it came up with in its previous game.
We'll find out on Thursday if Manteca can snag another victory or if Rio Americano will turn things around for itself.
