Baseball Recap: Haskell Comes Up Short

Haskell fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Stroud on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 8-7. The Haymakers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Haskell got a good showing from Nevin Sheedy, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off six hits. That's the fewest earned runs Sheedy has allowed since back in March.

At the plate, Brady Neal made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs. Haskell is 5-2 when Neal posts two or more runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ryker Porter, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

Haskell's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Stroud, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Haskell will challenge Beggs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Stroud, they will square off against Oktaha at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
